My name is Lindsay Ferguson. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, & Neuroscience and Spanish. Adventure, Grow, Heal was inspired by three of my personal core values.
Adventure. I studied abroad in Spain for a semester in college and that is where I realized my love for travel. I have since returned to Europe several times and am planning to travel to SE Asia and hopefully New Zealand this summer. There’s something truly special about stepping foot in a new country for the first time and immersing yourself with the local people, language, food, and overall culture. You could say that I’m “in my element” or feel the most at peace when I’m traveling.
Grow. I ran my own business with Southwestern Advantage for four summers during college. I moved to a new state and sold educational products to families, building a 200-300 client base from scratch by the end of my summer. This program taught me discipline, amongst many other things. Through my summers with Southwestern, I was able to step far outside of my comfort zone and learned a great deal about myself and others as a result.
Heal. I have experienced a great deal of health issues in my 23 years of life. After years of severe stomach pain and the inability to grow or gain weight, I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance and Crohn’s disease when I was 16 years old. More recently, I have had several surgeries for the embolization of an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) on my chin that I have probably had since birth. These conditions, plus more, have helped me realize the important role healing plays in all aspects of life.
